Medical Review Officer

Drugs and alcohol have a direct effect on the health and safety of workers, increasing the likelihood of injury to self or others. As a result, many workplaces have instituted Drug and Alcohol Management Plans incorporating Pre-employment, Post Incident, On Suspicion and Random Drug Screening.

The role of a Medical Review Officer is more than interpreting the results. As a recognised Physician with experience in drug and alcohol testing interpretation and knowledge of substance abuse disorders, the MRO's role starts with advice on the design and implementation of the Drug and Alcohol Management Plan and continues through the oversight of any required substance abuse management plan, to assessment of fitness for duty.

Dr O'Toole was one of the first Australian doctors to obtain training and qualification as a Medical Review Officer through the Medical Review Officer Certification Council (MROCC) through the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM).

Dr O'Toole provides individualised MRO services to a number of Australian Airlines, Energy Providers, Mining Groups and small businesses alike; working to reduce their risk.
